Training

• Design and deliver of training packages for academics, professional services staff. In particular these programmes allow participants to bring in their own local examples and reflect on their own practice. For more information click here.

Strategy

​​

• Consultancy on Public Engagement (PE) and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) strategy development, writing or implementation at all levels, from research group to university. 
   

• Consultancy on how existing university systems and mechanisms can be barriers to embedding engaged research practices. This can include payment processes for external partners, recruitment processes and look at advisory groups membership and nestled structures. 
   

• Mapping of practices within an institution to help inform future strategic decisions for support programmes.
   

Evaluation
 

• Evaluation of long-running outreach and public engagement projects. In particular projects which have been assigned to academics with little time for reflection who do not have access to specific Outreach & Public Engagement support. 
   

• Evaluation of long-running PE, EDI and Culture Change programmes formed of varied projects (such as training, funding, networks, awards) against new or emerging strategies and themes. In particular I help formalise tacit knowledge found within established team. This happens when circumstances mean teams are focussed on delivery and moving from one project to the next, without time for reflection.
   

Teams & Processes

• Help develop team processes to help deliver a varied programme of engagement, research culture and EDI projects, in particular when a team is working with other internal partners (such as professional services staff, academics) and external partners.
   

• Facilitation of team meetings, annual programmatic reviews, or knowledge sharing sessions.

Mentoring
 

• Annual mentoring for outreach, PE, and research culture professionals, academic with PE / EDI remits, and new research leaders (such as UKRI Future Leader Fellows). For more details on package offered, click here. 
   

LGBTQ+ STEM

​

• Discussions and departmental talks and seminars on issues around LGBTQ+ in STEM. 
   

• Chairing discussions, practice, and writing policy around equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) challenges in PE, changing research culture and shaping research leaders​​​
